Additionally, Pepper Computer will not provide support for any problems caused by unwarranted modifications.
How can I bring up a root console shell? 
Use the keypad sequence ctrl + shft + 1.
Is this only available at boot time? 
No, you can use this key sequence at any time.
Does the Pepper Pad support SSH? 
Yes, it does but you will need to enable it.
What X server does the Pepper Pad run? 
It is based on a distribution from freedesktop.org.
Is your Java API netbeans compliant? 
No. We do not have a full J2SE.
Is there room for me to install GCC on the 20GB drive? 
Yes, over 16GB is free.
Can I use the Pepper Pad as a RDP client? 
Theoretically, you should be able to do this, however it is not supported by Pepper Computer.
Is there a VNC included?
Not at this time, but is is being considered for a future release. We found the java version of TightVNC works on the Pepper Pad. Please note: Pepper does not provide support for the TightVNC client.
I Have a Dbox2 cable digital-TV-set top box with Linux inside, connected to LAN. I can watch TV through WLAN/LAN with a desktop/laptop using VLC-software. Is it possible to use VLC in pepper? Can I browse and download files from my home network (NSLU2 + USB 2.0HD) with Pepper?
VLC should work on the pad but we do not supply nor support this (please see our Note above regarding the Limited Warranty). We'll be adding the ability to browse Windows/smb shares as well assupport for UPnP in the future.
