Pepper Pad 3 handheld Web computer enters the CEDIA market
(LEXINGTON, MA – September 12, 2006) - Hanbit Electronics Co., Ltd. and Pepper Computer today announced that Russound, the number one brand in multiroom audio, has selected the Pepper Pad 3 handheld Web computer as a display controller for their SMS3 Smart Media Server. Russound will demonstrate the new Pepper Pad 3 at their booth (#172) along with the SMS3.

An innovative, handheld Web computer, the instant-on Pepper Pad 3 blends the Internet and digital media with a simple, portable user experience. The Pepper Pad 3 is a logical fit for the CEDIA market; featuring built-in Wi-Fi, UPnP, Bluetooth and IR learn and transmit control capabilities. The multiroom activity-based A/V Remote Control application allows consumers to control the audio and video components of the home – from any room of the house. Additionally, the Pepper Pad 3 is designed for casual use and maximum portability at just 11.4” by 5.9” and 2.2-pounds and features a splash-resistant, rugged design.

Internally, the Pepper Pad 3 is based on the AMD Geode™ LX 800 processor and a Linux Kernel 2.6 embedded operating system for faster Web browsing and quiet fan-less operation. The Pepper Pad 3 is manufactured by Hanbit Electronics of Suwon, South Korea, based on Pepper Computer’s new Pepper Pad 3 Reference Design and features the new Pepper Software Platform 3.0. Hanbit licensed the rights to Pepper’s hardware and software designs under an agreement signed December 2005.
